Guess what folks... it's raining again, we are just glad for the half day hike we managed to do on Franz Joesph yesterday. Our schedule today had us stop of at “the most photographed area in New Zealand” Lake Matheson but because of the driving rain only one crazy Norwegian guy decided to jog there and back and all he said was he couldn't see very much.
The weather then began to improve as we started to move out of the west coast and we managed to stop off for a picnic lunch followed by a short walk to a river. We then continued on the bus to Haast, an Austrian who named a whole heap of things after himself including a pass, a bridge, a town, a beach, plus many others. After passing through the town of Haast we stopped off to view a couple of waterfalls which were a short walk from the bus and then walked over the Haast bridge.
On arrival in Wanaka we were told there was a BBQ that we could get for $6 so we just chilled out with the Norwegian guys until then and had a few beers with the rest of the guys who also decided to get the BBQ.
